THE REBIRTH OF NOTRE-DAME: AUTOMATION AND INNOVATION

Date: November 14, 2025

On December 7, 2024, Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral officially reopened its doors after five years of intense restoration work following the devastating fire of April 15, 2019. Among the protagonists of this extraordinary reconstruction, Belltron technology stands out, which, together with the bell-making craftsmen, brought to life the ancient sound of the Notre-Dame bronzes.

An unprecedented restoration

The artisans worked as “alchemists”, transforming the ruins into a contemporary work of art, while maintaining the historical charm of the cathedral. Among many interventions, the bells of Notre-Dame have been dismantled, cleaned of lead dust and restored to ensure their longevity. The eight bells were equipped with a cutting-edge automation system: the 3800TSI series bell controller was chosen for time programming and remote management, guaranteeing precision, reliability, and respect for bell tradition.

Bell automation with Belltron technologyThe GM-3800TS bell controller allows the creation of customized programs for bells ringing, perfectly synchronizing the chimes with liturgical and civil times. In addition, it offers an intuitive interface for real-time monitoring and regulation.

Alongside the bell controller, the Belltron-Cloud, remote control system that allows the management, programming and updating of the GM-3800TS in a simple and secure way, has also been installed. Thanks to the Cloud, technicians and operators can intervene on the system remotely, optimizing settings and ensuring constant monitoring of functionality, fully respecting the cathedral's sound tradition.

The programming was carried out by the bell-ringer Voegele, ensuring the utmost care in the liturgical and civil management of the chimes.

A company with innovative projects

Belltron is an Italian company known for its ability to combine tradition and technology. The bell automation system designed for Notre-Dame represents an example of excellence. Technology has not only improved the management of bells but has also respected the historical and spiritual value of their sound.

The reopening of Notre-Dame de Paris, enhanced by Belltron bell automation and remote control via Belltron-Cloud, is a triumph of innovation and community spirit. The echo of its bells now rings out thanks to technology that honors the past as it looks to the future.
