New Belltron audio system in Albania

Date: January 23, 2025

In the heart of the city of Lezhë, Albania, the Cathedral of Saint Nicholas is an important place of worship for the local Catholic community and replaces the old cathedral, now a historical monument, also dedicated to Saint Nicholas. Recently, the Cathedral has taken a significant step to improve and solve the challenges related to the acoustics of the church by installing a new sound system Belltron, work performed by Hysni Balliu’s EFB Automazioni.

To create a true spiritual connection, it is essential that words and music are heard clearly in every corner of the church. This is why the new Belltron audio system was installed with the aim of solving the serious problems encountered acoustically.

The Belltron audio system: a step forward in the cult experience

After its construction, in the cathedral were installed two audio systems completely ineffective that did not respond to the needs of the local community and that did not make speeches understandable.

There were many companies competing for this third attempt at amplification, including Belltron. The Belltron audio system is known for its quality and reliability. It was chosen to ensure a clear and engaging listening experience during religious services and special celebrations in the highly reverberating Cathedral.

Main components of the system are:

BPA-16 Amplifier - Designed to avoid any distortion to the original music or voice signal, maintaining a very faithful sound. The audio amplification within the chosen location can be adjusted in a detailed way and customized according to sound absorption and the tone of the speaker, thanks to an internal parametric equalizer.

BK Series Loudspeakers - The BK Series is distinguished by the use of neodymium speakers, which offer superior performance. This configuration allows to achieve a perfect balance between lightness and performance. The naturalness and clarity of the sound, even at high volumes, are guaranteed by the integration of a variovent system, which reduces unwanted resonances and ensures a clear and defined response to low frequencies, as well as an excellent transient management.

The BK Series speakers are designed to be modular in height: starting from a base module composed of eight loudspeakers, it is possible to combine up to two or three modules, creating a single system that integrates up to twenty-four loudspeakers, Thus offering a uniform and powerful sound front.

Microphones - They are particularly suitable for reverberating environments, having a high rejection of the phenomena of acoustic reentry, to which they are poorly sensitive. Extended and linear frequency response and exceptional voice intelligibility. Very low frequencies are automatically filtered to minimize any noise transmitted through the table or pulpit.

The choice of Bishop Ottavio Vitale and the skills of technician Hysni Balliu were crucial in this project. Bishop Vitale pointed out that the main objective of this intervention was to ensure clear vocal intelligibility and to solve problems of reverberation and acoustic inefficiency which had occurred in the past. And this goal has been well achieved.

Hysni Balliu is an expert technician who helped select and install the new audio system. Hysni, who has worked for many years in the field and had the certainty of the products he was proposing, was also willing to remove all the plant if it did not satisfy 100% the bishop and parishioners. Obviously he was very sure of what he was proposing and the system was kept with satisfaction of all.

The combination of spirit and technical expertise has ensured a result that now makes optimal the worship experience in the Cathedral.
