INSTALLATION COMPLETED AT ST. CATHERINE OF SIENA CATHOLIC CHURCH IN MOBILE, ALABAMA
Date: February 04, 2025

The renovation of the audio system in the church of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Mobile, Alabama, carried out by VOSMO, authorized Belltron dealer for the United States, has recently been completed.
Acoustic challenge
This historic church, with its unique architecture characterized by a high roof and artistic stained glass windows, represented an acoustic challenge due to the significant echo problem. The reverberation caused by the building structure tends to compromise the clarity of the audio, making it difficult for the faithful to hear clearly readings, homilies and liturgical songs.
However, thanks to our many years of experience and the use of cutting-edge technologies, we have been able to provide an optimal solution for improving sound quality.
Belltron solution
To address the particular acoustic needs of the church, our team has used high-quality equipment designed and engineered to deliver excellent performance in highly reverberant environments. Key elements of the installed system include:
Six BK-08 and two BK-04 speakers ensure clear, balanced sound throughout the church, minimizing the effect of echo. The possibility to select the impedance 8/32 ohm allows to choose the right value for each circumstance and place, allowing to set the correct load and maximize the performance of the speakers. The array system with very close speakers allows a directive sound diffusion by making sure that the sound waves sent towards the ceiling and the floor greatly decrease, improving the intelligibility in highly reverberating places like churches and conference rooms. A unique feature among the various types of Belltron speakers is that they are modular and can be assembled up to a maximum of 3 units. Each module is a high-power 8 driver (80 mm) neodymium array.
- Dedicated microphones: two microphones have been installed on the ambo and one on the altar, ensuring a faithful and accurate reproduction of voices during liturgical celebrations. Belltron microphones are particularly suitable for reverberating environments, being characterized by high rejection of the phenomena of acoustic reentry. Very low frequencies are automatically filtered to minimize any noise transmitted.
- BPA-08EA Amplifier: The Belltron Amplifier, with built-in Anti-Larsen and parametric Equalizer, is a central element of our system, which helps to provide robust and uniform audio, improving the sound distribution throughout the space, with the possibility of differentiating the volumes according to the area of the church and the participation in the liturgy by the faithful.
Impact on the place of worship
With all the instruments suitable for a sonorization sensitive to the phenomena of rumbling, and thanks to the choices made by the team and the authorized Belltron dealer Giorgio Moscatelli VOSMO, the St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church can now relies on an optimized audio system that perfectly meets its needs. The faithful can finally take part in liturgical celebrations with a greatly improved sound, enjoying a clarity never reached by previous attempts of sonorization.
A custom installation for a historic church
The installation was designed respecting the history and beauty of the church. The work was carried out carefully to integrate modern technologies without compromising the aesthetics and character of the building.
We are grateful for the opportunity to help enhance the liturgical experience in such a significant place of worship. With this installation, we hope to support the parish community for many years to come.
